Wk4 - Ending startup 1 and starting startup 2

Happy Friday!

This week concludes startup up number 1, The Intelligent Commerce. Therefore I wanted to note down what I have enjoyed & what I haven’t really enjoyed during building:

Things I enjoyed:

• Learning more about the Bullseye framework: I think I now have a repeatable process for doing growth for future projects which is amazing. I also think I am starting to develop my own philosophy for growth which I think every builder should have.

• Using Beehiiv: I have really enjoyed learning a new tool and think it is super easy to use. This newsletter uses Beehiiv now.

Things I haven’t enjoyed:

• Searching for content for the newsletter: actually having to write the newsletter and curate the content I really didn’t enjoy. It’s quite a boring task. I don’t enjoy reading these curated newsletters let alone building one. The learning here is I need to enjoy building the product I am working on.

• Google Analytics: it’s just so complex and hard to use. But I have found some alternatives in simpleanalytics and fathomanalytics

• Solving a customer problem: I feel like with these curated newsletters I am not really solving a problem for the customer I am just trying to get hold of their email address. I really didn’t enjoy this as I didn’t feel like I was building anything useful.

This marks the end of start-up 1. I have decided to stop creating the newsletters and I will now focus on the next one which will be a Shopify app… but more details on this next week.

As usual here are this week’s successes, learnings, and plans for next week

This week’s successes:

• Implemented Bullseye framework

• Created a growth experimentation framework.

This week’s learnings:

• Work on something you enjoy building.

Next week

• Start start-up number 2
